The Society is in need of volunteers for some specific jobs. If you're able to help, please respond to this email and we'll direct your email to the appropriate person.
Thomas House Interpreters. No experience necessary. We'll provide training and put you on with a more seasoned volunteer to start. The Thomas House is open from 1:30 to 4:00 weekends in May, June, and September. In July and August it's open every day except Friday and Monday unless it's a holiday Monday. Take on as few or as many sessions as you'd like.
Property jobs. The Thomas House needs some repairs as do most buildings of its age. We're having the roof replaced this summer but some carpentry needs to be done and it needs painting outside and the floor inside. Our office needs some work as well. About 8 boards and several battens of the board and batten siding need to be replaced and stained. Some work needs to be done on the lean-to where the gardening tools are stored.
Exhibits. Greg Munz is looking for some help in the preparation of exhibits. Facility with computers is required and experience with Adobe InDesign would be a particular asset.
Events. The Society runs three events per year: the Christmas get together in early December; the potluck dinner at the Annual General Meeting in March and the Mayor's Picnic which will be in June 2023. It isn't running for 2022. In the past the Events Committee has run all three of these events. They're willing to assist and advise but are looking for new blood to look after one or more of these events. If you're an organizer, we need your help.
Yard Sale. This year the yard sale will run on 27 August with a rain date of the 28th. (Please note: this is a correction to the date printed in the newsletter). We need volunteers to help set up, supervise and tear down. We will have some Army Cadets to help carry the heavier stuff during setup.
