Mayor’s Historical Society Picnic
The Oakville Historical Society annually welcomes the young and the young-at-heart. Our Historical Society Mayor’s picnic brings our Oakville community together to greet the beginning of summer!
How? Bring your picnic lunch and join our Mayor, members and the community.
Where? Oakville’s oldest park, Lakeside Park at the foot of Navy St by beautiful Lake Ontario
When? Sunday, June 11, from 12:00 pm. to 4:30 pm.
Why? Our Mayor Burton traditionally opens with remarks at 12:15 pm. He welcomes the opportunity to meet and chat with neighbours and friends all afternoon.
What? Two bands will take turns performing, yet to be confirmed. In the past, Oakville Wind Orchestra and
St. Paul's Dixie Land Band have performed.
Usually, the Oakville Scottish Country Dance Group performs.
The gazebo is often filled with musicians creating lovely afternoon music. The lawn is filled with children and smiling adult faces. Often there are special appearances by members of our community and organizations. It is a great opportunity to meet many members of The Historical Society, some dressed in period costumes, who welcome new members!
How the fun evolves!
Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic lunch. Pick your favourite spot on the lawn and just enjoy!
Sit back and enjoy the dancing and music. Learn interesting facts about Oakville’s history by visiting the Thomas House, the Oakville Museum and the Oakville Historical Society office.
Invite your friends, family and neighbours.
Please share the Mayor’s Picnic with your family and neighbours to create more community enjoyment!
